Pasta Recipes

Pasta is a classic meal. It is simple, fast and is very diverse. Are you tired with the same old pasta dish? Does your spaghetti lack spice? Does your Fusilli lack flare? The following information is going to put the passion back into your pasta recipes.

There are three main ingredients that all pasta recipes require, no matter what their style: garlic, basil and olive oil. These three ingredients ARE pasta. If you have this magic trio in your kitchen, you cannot fail to produce a quality pasta dish.

You have two options with basil. You can buy the leaves already cut or you can buy a basil plant. We recommend buying a plant. Basil plants are very easy to look after. Simply keep them watered and place them in direct sunlight. It is a wise idea to cut the basil plant back to just the bottom two set of leaves. This may seem dramatic, but the plant will quickly grow and cutting it down like this actually stimulates growth. Basil can be used in pasta recipes to make pesto or to garnish your pasta and even your side salad.

Olive oil is an essential component of any pasta dish. In fact pasta can be served with just olive oil. This is typically called "spaghetti e Olio."  Olive oil is full of healthy monounsaturated fats, fats that are good for your heart and will help to reduce the onset of cardiovascular disease. Not only does olive work great as a base for your pasta recipes, it also tastes great on your accompanying side salads.

The last remaining essential ingredient is garlic. Just like olive oil, this ingredient has a whole host of health benefits. It can lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of blood clots and it even has antibacterial properties. Garlic is the true super food and if you are currently not eating it, pasta is a great way to receive garlic's health benefits. To get you started with pasta try " Spaghetti Aglio e Olio." Simply chop the garlic and fry until brown add it into the pasta and drizzle with olive oil. Add basil for garnish: simple, delicious and very healthy.
